About Maureen Farley
Maureen Ida Farley creates art as an expression of her love of birds, animals and the beauty of our natural world. She has enjoyed a lifelong love of drawing and painting which lead her to study fine art and psychology at the University of Nevada, Reno. Her artistic achievements include receiving the Carson Valley Artists Association Library Award as well as numerous awards from the Nevada Artists Association, Western Nevada College and the Douglas County Historical Society.
"When I paint my goal is to create flowing harmonious images which may appear to be 'lifelike', though not necessarily so detailed that they attempt to look 'real'. I enjoy rendering eyes that gleam, birds that seem to fly, and sometimes water that appears to dance. I especially enjoy mixed media, colored pencil, digital photography and transparent acrylic collage. Currently I am exploring the fusion of mad-made and natural material to produce abstract assemblages. The artist whose work I admire the most is Franz Marc."
Maureen Farley's work can be seen at www.maureenidafarley.artistwebsites.com and at the Twinsburg Public Library as she moved to Ohio in 2012. She is affiliated with the Hudson Society of Artists, The Medina County Art League, the National Collage Society and the Colored Pencil Society of America.
