This painting began as an abstract watercolor. Eventually a pattern of a large red flower and a butterfly emerged so I gently defined and enhanced the images with colored pencil.

Maureen Farley is inspired by the beauty of animals and the natural world. She has enjoyed a lifelong love of art which lead her to study fine art and psychology at the University of Nevada, Reno. Her artistic achievements include receiving the Carson Valley Artists Association Library Award as well as numerous awards from the Nevada Artists Association, Western Nevada College, the Douglas County Historical Society and the Geauga Nature Center in Ohio.
